Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We actually ended up here by accident in trying to get to a nearby wedding venue. The owner was amazing and gave us a lift to our planned destination. We went back the next day and had a coffee and cake and they were both great. It's unusual for the area to have a speciality coffee roasters and coffee shop and they've done it well."
"Excellent selection of coffees and cakes which were all top quality, at the end of a walk along part of the Hadrian’s Wall path. They roast their own coffee beans on site and the house roast - Cheviot Rise - is such a delicious coffee, served in lovely good size cups. The decaf - Kielder Nights - is excellent too, the best I’ve ever had. Coffee beans, and other high quality goods are on sale. They also sell some items from Ad Gefrin distillery near Wooler. Very clean throughout. Nice outdoor seating is also available, and the location is very quiet set back from the military road."
"I’ve visited before and decided that a return trip was needed. The speciality coffee (their own roast) is fantastic, and the range of cakes, sandwiches and ice creams available is also very good – all locally made. Whilst Northumberland HQ is a little bit away from any of the nearby towns, that’s a lovely part of the atmosphere and its charm. Well worth a visit!"
"Amy and the team are FANTASTIC. It's always a welcome site when you arrive at an event and they are there with the trusty Defenders and that FABULOUS Coffee. Always served with a massive smile and delicious snack the coffee is the best for miles around."
"The location and the coffee. Just perfect. The team really know how to make a great cortado. They really should introduce v60/pour over coffees at some point. The cakes they serve are always delicious. On the last visit, I had their seasonal hot chocolate special - decadent yet satisfying!"
"A current favourite. Always a great experience! The staff are lovely, the coffee incredible and the homemade focaccia panini & sweet treats are always spot on. Would highly recommend"
"Northumberland HQ Cafe was a perfect stop on our way to Edinburgh. The coffee and cake were excellent, and the setting in the middle of nature made it even more enjoyable"
"A fantastic hidden gem. In the middle of the country side, surrounded by nature. Great vibe & great coffee. The coffee house has a Scandi feel too it with a sense of community. I would highly recommend."
